IRVINE, Calif. - It was announced on Monday that Kaylin Raibon and Mia Ranson were named the Big West Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
The Titans are coming off their first two wins of the season as they picked up a pair of 1-0 victories over the University of San Diego on Thursday and against the University of California, Berkeley on Sunday.
Sophomore defender Kaylin Raibon scored the game-winning goal for the Titans in both games last week. Raibon made a header off a corner kick in the Titans win over San Diego in a match the TItans dominated with 31 shots. Raibon also scored the only goal against CAL after burying a penalty kick. Raibon leads the Titans with four goals despite being a defender. This is Raibon's second career Player of the Week honor, as she earned the Freshman of the Week distinction a year ago in 2022 (Oct. 10, 2022).
RS-Sophomore goalkeeper Mia Ranson kept two clean sheets this week as the Titans picked up two 1-0 wins over the University of San Diego and the University of California, Berkeley. Ranson made eight saves for the week including six against Cal. Ranson leads the conference with three shutouts and with an .816 save percentage. This is Ranson's fourth career Big West Player of the Week honor, as she earned Freshman of the Week once (Aug. 22, 2022), and Defensive Player of the Week recognition twice in 2022 (Aug. 29, 2022), (Sept. 5, 2022).
The Titans will host the UNLV Rebels on Thursday for their final non-conference tuneup before Big West play begins on Sunday at UC Riverside. Kick-off for Thursday's match is set for 5:00 p.m. The TItans will host a pregame ceremony for their seniors before introductions on Thursday.
