FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans women's soccer team picked up their first win of the season as they defeated UC Irvine 2-1 in a non-conference match on Thursday evening at Titan Stadium.
The Titans picked up their first win over the Anteaters since November 2nd, 2017.
It was a pretty even match on the stat sheet. As the Titans outshot UC Irvine 14-to-13 with 6 shots on goal to the Anteater's 4.
The Titans tested Irvine's goalkeeper early with Kaytlin Brinkman and Katelin Bebe both forcing saves from Hinojosa.
Emilia Owen and Madison Kline combined for a one-two combination and Kline sent Owen a through ball on goal and Owen was able to slot it to the inside corner for her second goal of the season.

However, the Anteaters would find the equalizer five minutes later after Kaylin Raibon brought down an Anteater inside the box. Mia Ransom guessed the right side on the penalty kick but Desiree Mendoza's ball sailed just past her fingertips for the goal.
The Titans scored their second goal and what would be the game winning goal in the 63rd minute . Karla Rodriguez sent in a beautiful cross from the right side and found a wide open Collette Ledden who headed it past the UCI keeper. That was the red shirt sophomore's first goal in just her second collegiate game played.

UCI Irvine had a couple shots on goal before the half ran out but Mia Ranson was there to make the save each time.
The Titans will have a quick recovery time as they take on the Texas Tech Raiders on Saturday at 7:00 PM. The Red Raiders played the University of New Mexico to a 1-1 draw on Thursday.
