FULLERTON, Calif. - Three Cal State Fullerton women's soccer alumni are on UEFA Women's Champions League squads for the 2019-20 campaign. Christina Burkenroad (Sparta Praha) Karen Bardsley (Manchester City), and Morgan Bertsch (FF Lugano) are all competing in the top club women's soccer competition in the world.

Burkenroad's scored each of her team's two goals in their opening match of the round of 32 on Wednesday but her squad ultimately lost 3-2 to Breidablik in the first of two legs. Neither Bardsley (injury) or Bertsch played in their match on Thursday but Bardsley's Manchester City squad won at FF Lugano by a score of 7-1.

Burkenroad, a San Diego native, was a standout at Fullerton. She was a two-time First-Team All-Big West honoree, the 2015 Big West Midfielder of the Year and the 2014 Big West Tournament MVP. She sits at fourth all-time with 66 career points, 24 career goals also ties for fourth, she is fourth all-time with eight game-winning goals and her 18 career assists tie for second all-time. She is the only Titan to be named Big West Conference Tournament MVP twice (2014 & 2015). In addition, she is one of eight players in Titan history to receive Big West Conference First Team honors twice and she is the only Titan in program history to find the back of the net in two different NCAA Tournament matches.

Bardsley is arguably the best goalkeeper in Titan history. She was a three-time Big West Goalkeeper of the Year (04, 05, 06) and the Big West Freshman of the Year (02). She earned First-Team All-Big West honors three times and second-team honors once. She was also a three-time NSCAA All-West Region honoree. She still holds career program records for saves (312), save percentage (0.839), goals against average (0.84), goalkeeper victories (47), shutouts (26) and minutes played (6,395).

After graduating from Fullerton, she began her professional career in Europe in 2007. She went on to represent Great Britain in the 2012 London Olympics as well as England in the 2015 World Cup, 2017 UEFA Women Euros and the 2019 World Cup.

Bertsch spent four years as a Titan and ended her career with a stellar senior campaign as she earned Co-Big West Goalkeeper of the Year honors, First-Team All-Big West accolades and was named the Big West Conference Tournament MVP as she led the squad to the NCAA Tournament. She holds the fourth-best single season goals against average percentage in program history at .75 goals allowed per match.
