Cal State Fullerton Women’s Soccer Heads to Pepperdine for the NCAA First Round

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team will make its eighth appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship when the Titans take on Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif. The field of 64 teams was announced Monday afternoon by the Division I Women's Soccer Committee.

The Titans (12-5-4, 4-3-1 BWC) secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament after appearing in their sixth consecutive Big West Conference Tournament championship on Sunday (11/05). Cal State Fullerton tied CSUN 1-1 and took the match into a dramatic penalty kick shootout where the Titans won 4-3. 

With the win, the Titans received an automatic bid for the 2017 championship.

Fullerton will play Pepperdine, which is 14-2-3 overall and 8-0-1 in the West Coast Conference. The Waves are the West Coast Conference Champions.

The Titans and Waves last met in 2014 in Fullerton, where Pepperdine would win 2-1 in overtime. 

Overall, Cal State Fullerton is 4-9-2 against Pepperdine in program history. The Titans are 2-4-1 when playing the Waves in Malibu.  

The match will be played at 1:00 p.m. PT on Saturday in Malibu, Calif.
