SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After an exhausting offensive struggle, Fullerton was unable to finish out the match as they drop to Cal Poly 2-0.
Cal State Fullerton moves to 9-4-3, (2-2-1) with the loss against Cal Poly 7-9-1 (2-4-0).
"This is a really tough game for our women tonight," said head coach Demian Brown. "To dominate the first half, and so much of the game the way we did and not have anything to show for it is something we really have to address in the program." Brown went on to say, "We lost to a very motivated group of women on their senior night, now we look forward to a very good game against Santa Barbara."
Although the Titans outshot the Mustangs 15-11, they were unable to get the ball to the back of the net.
Fullerton would once again out-corner their opponent 7-4.
As both teams left the first half scoreless, the Mustangs opened the second half strong with a goal by Megan Demijohn in the 84th minute.
The Mustangs would then gain a PK off the yellow card issued to Amanda Larsson in the 89th minute. Cal Poly's Abutin would boot the penalty kick past Bertsch to put the game away.
Fullerton heads back home to end the weekend against UC Santa Barbara at 5:00 p.m. PT at Titan Stadium.
