DENVER – The Titans are now 5-2-2 after a devastating loss to the Pioneers who advanced to 4-4-1. Fullerton however still holds onto the top stop in the Big West with a .667 winning percentage.
Fullerton trailed early as Denver's Jessie Dancy shot the game-winning goal in the seventh minute.
The Titans found their momentum later in the first half when Atlanta Primus set Samantha Koemans up with the cross from the right side. Koemans took the ball and hit it into the back of the empty net in the 24th minute. Koemans now with four goals for the season.
Primus got her fifth goal of the season via Sarah Fajnor in the 26th minute to set Fullerton above 2-1. Primus received the ball from the center of the box and finished into the net.
"Today we faced a very energetic and motivated Denver program," said head coach Demian Brown. "We simply made too many mistakes both in the attack and in defending to be successful in a match like this."
As the Titans came out of the half on top, the Pioneers answered back with a goal by Hannah Adler from 22 yards out to equalize the game 2-2 in the 73rd minute. Denver closed out the game with the goal by Meg Halvorson in the 80th minute to set the Pioneers over 3-2.
For the first time this season, the Titans trailed in corners 5-4. Denver also outshot Fullerton 18-11.
Defensively, Morgan Bertsch stayed anchored between the posts and recorded five saves.
Fullerton looks to bounce back against San Diego on Friday at 7:30 p.m. PT at Titan Stadium. The match will be a doubleheader with men's soccer who plays before the beginning of the women's game.
