FULLERTON, Calif. – Kaycee Hoover got the tempo going for Fullerton (5-1-2) Sunday night with the game-winning goal from Samantha Koemans in the 38th minute against Utah Valley (3-5-0) at Titan Stadium.
Hoover tallied a goal in each game over the weekend. Her first set the Titans over to a 2-1 victory against Iowa State, and Sunday's game-winning goal became her second.
The Titans kept the offense in full throttle when Tala Haddad netted an Olympic goal in the 36th minute. The ball glided into the net untouched marking Haddad's second goal this season.
Samantha Koemans made her veteran presence known soon after in the 39th minute with a goal off the set piece from the left side. Koemans now notches three goals for the season.
"It is always good to come out on a Sunday and get a 3-0 win," said associate head coach Michael Thomas. "We've put a lot of time on set pieces and you see that those win or lose games, and it was nice to win that battle of the set piece."
Sunday's three first half goals are the most scored in any half this season. The last time the Titans scored three goals in a half was Nov. 15, 2015, against UCSB.
Fullerton's defense kept strong only allowing Utah Valley to record four shots for the match. Morgan Bertsch totaled 84 minutes in Sunday's match and now moves to 5-1-2.
The Titans look forward to a full week's worth of practice and end their week with a friendly against the alumni, on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. PT at Titan Stadium. Fullerton will then hit the road as they face Denver University on Monday, Sept. 18 at 6:00 p.m. PT at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
