Fajnor Named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Netted the game-winning goal in overtime Sunday to send Titans to Big West Tournament

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton junior Sarah Fajnor earned her first career Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Fajnor scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Sunday's 2-1 victory over UC Irvine at Titan Stadium. The victory clinched the Titans a spot in the Big West Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed. It was also Fajnor's sixth goal in Big West Conference play, the most by any player in the conference.

The Fullerton, Calif. native is the second Titans player this season to earn the weekly award from the Big West this season. Maribell Morales earned the distinction on Oct. 3.

With the match tied 1-1 in the 96th minute, Kaycee Hoover controlled the ball in the middle of the attacking third and sent a pass to Connie Caliz. The Titans midfielder then sent the ball out wide to the right side where Fajnor dribbled the ball into the box. She reversed the ball from her right foot to her left and then fired a low shot that found the back of the net at the far post past Anteaters goalkeeper Maddie Newsom to give the Titans the victory.

Fajnor has scored six goals in her last eight matches and leads the Titans with 14 points overall going into the Big West Tournament this week.

The Titans will face No. 2 seed UC Irvine on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at George Allen Field on the campus of Long Beach State.

Others nominated: Kourtney Kutscher (CSUN); Ashley Gonzales (Long Beach State); Nicole Carson (UC Davis); Jessica Miclat (UC Irvine)
