QUICK HITS

• Cal State Fullerton is coming off a split at the Fullerton Tournament presented by Embassy Suites Brea-North Orange County this past weekend. They defeated UAB in the opening match of the tournament, 3-0, on Friday night before getting blanked by Oregon, 1-0, on Sunday night.

• The Titans 3-0 win over UAB on Friday marked the team's second straight shutout victory, the first time that's happened since Oct. 18 and 25, 2015 when they blanked UC Riverside and CSUN by the identical score of 1-0.

• Fullerton's three goals in Friday's win over UAB were a single-game season high.

• Conversely, the Titans' 1-0 loss to Oregon on Sunday night marked the fourth time the team has been shutout this season.

• UC Irvine went undefeated in the Fullerton Tournament, beating Oregon 3-2 in the opening match on Friday and then dominating UAB 4-0 on Sunday. The Anteaters currently have the second best record in the Big West Conference behind only undefeated UC Santa Barbara.

• Friday's match at Arizona State will be televised on PAC-12 Arizona and can also be seen via live stream on PAC-12.com. A subscription is required.

• Sunday's match at UNLV will be live streamed for free courtesy of the Mountain West Network.

• Head coach Demian Brown is in his 10th season at the helm of the Titans. Cal State Fullerton is 87-79-25 under Brown.

IN THE POLLS

The Titans, Anteaters, Blazers and Ducks are all unranked in this week's NSCAA Top-25. The Sun Devils are ranked No. 8 in this week's NSCAA Pacific Region poll.

OPPONENT AND HISTORY

Arizona State

4 p.m. | Friday, Sept. 16 | Sun Devil Soccer Stadium

The Titans face the Sun Devils for the first time in history, marking the second straight week Fullerton will face a team for the first time. The Titans defeated UAB 3-0 on Sept. 9 in the first ever meeting between the teams. The Sun Devils enter Friday's match with a 4-2-1 record including a 3-0 victory in their last match against Northern Illinois. Forward Jazmarie Mader leads the squad with six goals in seven matches while Adriana Orozco is second on the team with six points overall (2G, 2A). Goalkeeper Megan Delaney has played in five of the team's matches and holds a 3-1-1 record with a 0.85 goals-against average.

UNLV

1 p.m. | Sunday, Sept. 18 | Johann Field

The Titans and Rebels meet for the second straight season. The Titans scored a 1-0 victory at Titan Stadium in 2015 thanks to a goal from Rebecca Wilson in the 81st minute. Morgan Bertsch drew the start in net for Fullerton and recorded one of her two career shutouts, making four saves. Overall, the Titans and Rebels have met six times since 1999 with UNLV holding a slight edge, winning three of the six matches with one draw. Sunday will mark the third meeting between the teams in Las Vegas, a place where Fullerton has not won. The Titans fell 2-0 to the Rebels in 2007 and lost 3-2 in the first all-time meeting between the teams in 1999.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Following a four-game homestand in which the Titans went 2-2, Fullerton heads out on the road for the final three matches of non-conference play. It is tied for the longest road stretch of the season for the Titans. They will play three straight matches on the road from Oct. 16-28 when they head to UC Santa Barbara, Hawai'i and CSUN in Big West Conference action later this season.

COMING OUT FIRING

Connie Caliz notched her first goal of the season 55 seconds into Friday night's match against UAB. It was the fourth fastest goal to start a match in Cal State Fullerton history and came just five days after teammate Tala Haddad scored 1:41 into Fullerton's match against San Jose State on Sept. 4, which was the sixth fastest goal to start a match at the time. The last time the Titans had two separate goals scored within two minutes of the beginning of a match in the same season was 2001 when Jenny Mescher scored 28 seconds in on Sept. 23 and Tennli Ulicny notched a goal 42 seconds into a match against UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 4. Those are also the two fastest goals scored to start a match in program history. In addition, Erica Jacalone also scored a goal within two minutes in 2001, finding the back of the net in 1:13 on Sept. 23 against Southern Utah.  The two goals this season are the fastest recorded since Caliz scored 56 seconds into Fullerton's match against Long Beach State on Nov. 9, 2014.

TITAN DEBUTS

Freshmen Sarah Davidson and Atlanta Primus each made their Cal State Fullerton debuts over the weekend. Davidson entered as a substitution in Friday night's victory over UAB while Primus played in both matches over the weekend. In addition, goalkeeper Morgan Bertsch saw her first action of the season, entering Friday's match in the 81st minute of a 3-0 shutout victory.

BLANK CANVAS STILL LEAVES ROOM FOR ART

Fullerton's four losses this season have all come by shutout. The last time the Titans suffered as many shutout losses was in 2013 when the Titans were blanked six times during the season. The team would finish with an 8-7-7 record but went on to win the Big West Conference Tournament to kick off the team's current streak of three straight conference tournament titles.

INJURY REPORT

Midfielder Kaycee Hoover is expected return to the pitch this weekend after missing the last four matches with a sprained knee that she suffered on Aug. 28 at Georgia. The Titans are already without senior Jazzmin Mancilla, who is out for the year with a torn ACL she suffered in the first match of the season against St. Mary's on Aug. 19.

JESS FINDS THE GOAL-SCORING TOUCH

Sophomore defender Jessica Simonian was one of three goal-scorers for the Titans in Friday night's win over UAB. She found the bottom right corner of the net from 25 yards out, scoring her first goal of the season and first since finding the back of the net in the NCAA First Round at USC on Nov. 13, 2015, a goal that put the Titans ahead 3-2 in the match.
