Getting to Know Nicholle Frei

Getting to Know Nicholle Frei

FULLERTON, Calif. – In February, Cal State Fullerton women's soccer head coach Demian Brown inked his 2014 signing class to National Letters of Intent.

Throughout the spring, FullertonTitans.com will "Get to Know" the newest Titans, that will step on campus for the 2014-15 academic year.

The eighth 2014 Titan signee to join FullertonTitans.com for the Q&A is midfielder Nicholle Frei of Woodbridge High School in Irvine, Calif.

FullertonTitans.com: Why did you decide to attend Cal State Fullerton and play for the Titans?

Nicholle: I decided to attend Cal State Fullerton for many reasons. Everything just seemed to work out perfectly. The environment of the school is so welcoming, and every time I came to visit, it made me really eager to attend and learn. Playing for the Titans wasn't a hard decision for me. The coaching staff and student-athletes' personalities and work ethic made me want to be a part of the program. I am also looking forward to getting to know the players better and building new friendships.

FullertonTitans.com: What is the best advice you have ever been given and by whom?

Nicholle: I am still waiting for inspirational advice that will make a lasting impression.

FullertonTitans.com:
If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you would bring and why?

Nicholle:
I would bring my IPod that has all my favorite songs and artists on it. I love music and I'm constantly listening to it. Music puts me in a good mood and without it, I don't know what I would do.

FullertonTitans.com: Tell us about your favorite moment on the soccer field?

Nicholle: My favorite moment on the soccer field was when my club team won our game in Colorado, which qualified us to play in the ECNL Finals in Virginia. My team's determination and chemistry that day was so strong, it made winning so much more exciting.

FullertonTitans.com:
If you could invite three famous people to dinner, who would you choose and why?

Nicholle:
Marcus Mumford, Ben Howard, and Jennifer Lawrence. I would invite Marcus Mumford and Ben Howard because they are my two favorite artists, and Jennifer Lawrence because I think she would be really funny and entertaining to have dinner with.

FullertonTitans.com: If you weren't playing soccer, what sport would you be playing?

Nicholle:
If I weren't playing soccer, I would still be playing softball or sand volleyball. I played competitive travel softball until I was 15, and then I decided to quit and focus only on club soccer. As for volleyball, I wish I played competitively, but never had the time for it.

FullertonTitans.com: What should Cal State Fullerton fans know about you?

Nicholle: I have a secret obsession with One Direction, mostly Harry Styles. It's not a creepy obsession though; I'm completely sane. :)

FullertonTitans.com: Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

Nicholle: I have to wear my hair the same way during every match, and I can never wear tape on my socks because the one time I did, my team did not play well, so I think I jinxed it. I have to say a specific prayer before every game, it started with my club team, but it carried over to an individual prayer. I also have the name and dates of the passing of my grandfather and friend Casey Strale written on my cleats.
