Aurora, OR - Tisha Alyn Abrea shot a consistent 10-over-par 226 and Kathryn New placed tenth among individuals as Cal State Fullerton's women's golf team finished strong to finish in fifth place Tuesday at the 14-team Rose City Collegiate at Langdon Farms Golf Club.
Freshman Abrea scored 75-76-75 over the 54 holes and finished ninth individually. Senior New shot 73-79-75 for a 227. The Titans, who were in seventh place after the first two rounds, posted a team score of 932, 68 over par. Long Beach State won the tournament by 10 strokes with a 900 followed by Fresno State (910), USF (911), Gonzaga (930) and Fullerton. UC Riverside was sixth at 934. Host Portland State was eighth (941).
Other Fullerton scores: Taylor Fowler and Neomi Hunt (232), Kristen Aiu (2442) and Se Ri Lee (246).
Fullerton's next tourney is the Firestone Grill Invitational hosted by Cal Poly in Nipomo beginning Sunday.
