SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Cal State Fullerton women's golf pulled off an impressive third round comeback to take first place at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic Tuesday afternoon with a final score of 26-over par 878, capturing its first tournament victory since 2014.
The Titans were in fourth place heading into the final round and eight strokes behind the first place team. Fullerton shot a 7-over par 291 in the third round to capture first place.
Elsa Lundquist led the team individually with a tied for 10th place finish after shooting 5-over par 218. Lundquist moved all the way up from tied for 33rd place after round one and 21st place after round two to earn another top-10 finish.
Lisa Djerf and Texie Petchel both finished tied for 15th place with a final score of 7-over par 220. Djerf shot a 70 in round one before shooting a 75 in rounds two and three. Petchel recorded a 70 in the first round, a 76 in round two and a 74 in the third and final round.
Freshman Brittany Shin placed tied for 20th with a score of 9-over par 222. Shin moved all the way up from tied for 36th place after shooting a 72 in the third and final round. Fellow freshman Nodoka Honda finished tied for 38th place after shooting a 13-over par 226.
Fullerton returns to action Monday, Sept. 23 as the team heads to the East Coast for the Boston College Intercollegiate at the Blue Hill Country Club.
