Fullerton Shoots Lights Out in Second Round to Improve to Sixth Place

Day One Results

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – At the completion of two rounds at the Sacramento State Invitational Monday afternoon Cal State Fullerton women's golf sits in sixth place after shooting a 36-over par 612.

The Titans struggled in round one of the tournament, shooting a 30-over par 318 to place them in eighth place out of a field of eight teams. However, Fullerton had an impressive outing in the second round to move up to sixth place heading into the final day of competition.

Fullerton shot a 6-over par 294 in round two, the third best score out of all teams in the tournament in the second round. CSF is just seven strokes behind Towson in fifth place.

San Francisco leads the field in first place with a score of 9-under par 567 with hosts Sacramento State in second place at 3-over par 579.

Elsa Lundquist has continued her strong play as she is tied for 16th place after shooting a 6-over par 150 through two rounds. Lundquist was a key part of the Titans improved success in the second round as she shot a 3-under par 69 to jump up from tied for 43rd after the first round.

Felicia Medalla is tied for 20th place following a consistent performance in rounds one and two with a score of 7-over par 151. Medalla shot a 4-over par 76 in round one and a 3-over par 75 in round two. Medalla is competing in the tournament as an individual.

Lou Daniella Uy finished the first day tied for 24th after shooting a 8-over par 152. Uy shot a 4-over par 76 in both rounds on Monday. Britney Sok is tied 32nd heading into the third round with a 12-over par 156. Sok had a score of 80 in the first round and a 4-over par 76 in the second round.

Freshman Courtney Sharkey also followed the lead of Lundquist as she also had an impressive showing in round two with a score of 1-over par 73 to place her tied 39th. Sharkey moved up from 51st place after shooting an 86 in round one. Pauline Welker finished day one in 43rd place after shooting a 16-over par 160.

The Titans like to carry their momentum into the third and final round Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. PT.
