FULLERTON, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton senior Martina Edberg was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Second Team All-American, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday at the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship.

Edberg recently competed in her first NCAA Division I Golf Championship at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., competing play on Monday and tying for 50th in the standings. The Glumslov, Sweden, native fired her best round of the tournament, even-par 72, to move up 25 spots on the leaderboard in the third and final round.

The senior finished the tournament with a three-round score of 16-over-par 232 as her successful collegiate career at Cal State Fullerton came to a close.

Edberg is the first Titan to earn All-American honors since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season, and she was also the first CSF women's golfer to reach the NCAA championship as an individual.

She advanced out of the Albuquerque Regional on May 10 after tying for second overall and finishing as the top individual participant. Edberg had been selected to NCAA Regional play as an individual in both 2015 and 2016 before advancing to the NCAA championship during her senior campaign.

Edberg was one of 12 individuals competing at the national championship, and was one of 132 players overall.

Arizona State's Monica Vaughn won the individual championship with a three-round score of 217 (+1), while Northwestern, Stanford, ASU, Ohio State, USC, Florida, Baylor and Kent State advanced to match play Tuesday and Wednesday.

Edberg was one of five NCAA Division I women's golf student-athletes named to the 2016-17 PING Women's Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year watch list on May 16.

The 2017 Big West Conference individual champion and 2017 Big West Player of the Year, Edberg has a 71.86 scoring average, a new Cal State Fullerton single-season record.

She claimed her sixth individual title of the season after winning her second Big West Women's Golf Championship individual medalist honor on April 25. She fired 1-under 71 in the final round of the championship for a 54-hole score of 6-under 210.

Over the course of the season, she posted top-three finishes in 10 of 12 tournaments and won a conference-record five consecutive Big West Golfer of the Month awards, bumping her career total to seven, which placed her second on the all-time Big West career list.

Edberg's medalist finishes this season came at the WSU Cougar Cup in Pullman, Wash. (Sep. 19-20), the Rose City Collegiate in Aurora, Ore. (Sep. 26-27), the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate in Germantowm, Tenn. (Oct. 17-18), the Fresno State Classic in Fresno, Calif. (Mar. 13-14), the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (Apr. 2-4) and the Big West Women's Golf Championship in Riverside, Calif. (Apr. 23-25).

Edberg was also named to the Big West Conference First Team for four consecutive years (2014-17).
