Edberg Comes From Two Shots Back to Win Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico --- Senior Martina Edberg fired her best round of the Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational to come back from two shots behind and claim her fifth medalist honor of the season at El-Tigre Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.

Edberg shot 2-under-par 70 in the third and final round of play, bringing her three-round total to 214 (-2). Ole Miss' Martina Flori and Washington's Ellen Takada each finished one shot back of Edberg to tie for second place.

Edberg's third round was part of a productive day for the Titans, as Fullerton moved up four spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for fifth, firing its best score of the tournament  - 290. Fullerton concluded play with a three-round total of 34-over-par 898.

Freshman Elsa Lundquist moved up 24 spots on the leaderboard as she shot the best score of the tournament for any Titan in the third round, 4-under-par 68, to finish with a three-round score of 224 (+8), tying for 26th in the standings.

Junior Daniella Uy finished tied for 35th on the leaderboard as she completed the tournament with a three-round score of 11-over-par 227 after shooting 4-over-par 76 in the third round.

Sophomore Pauline Welker also shot 4-over-par 76 in third round – her best score of the tournament – to finish tied for 55th with a three-round total of 233 (+17).

Competing as an individual, sophomore Felicia Medalla shot 4-over-par 76 in third round to finish at 28-over-par 244 and tied for 73rd place.

Sophomore Brittney Sok completed play in 79th place with a final three-round total of 264 (+48).

Washington shot 280 in the final round to move up two spots and take the title with a three-round total of 9-over-par 873, followed closely by Texas San Antonio (+10, 874). Wisconsin finished third (+15, 879), followed by Kennesaw State (+32, 896), Kansas (+34, 898), Cal State Fullerton (+34, 898), Ole Miss (+37, 901), New Mexico State (+43, 907), Nebraska (+45, 909), Iowa (+46, 910), Coastal Carolina (+46, 910), Indiana (+47, 911), Idaho (+47, 911) and Rutgers (+52, 916).

The Titans return to action at Oak Quarry Golf Course in Riverside on Sunday, April 23 to being play at the Big West Championships.
