Big West Conference October Golfer of the Month Release

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton senior Martina Edberg capped off her excellent fall season of golf by capturing her second straight Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month award, it was announced Thursday.

It was Edberg's fourth career golfer of the month award. She is the only Titans golfer to ever earn the award multiple times.

Edberg captured medalist honors for the third time in four fall tournaments as she shot 2-under 211 at the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate in Germanwood, Tenn.  It was the seventh victory of her Titans career, as she ran away with the title. Camila Serrano of FIU finished second, seven strokes back of Edberg while Michaela Fletcher of Memphis was third, nine strokes back. Edberg was the only golfer to finish the 54-hole event with a score under par.

She opened the tournament with a 69 and carded rounds of 72 and 70 to reach 211.  She knocked in her first eagle of the season on the 485-yard No. 7, the only eagle of the tournament.  Edberg also topped the field with 12 birdies overall.

Edberg almost recorded four victories during the fall, but ended up finishing third at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. The Glumslov, Sweden native was tied for the overall lead with three holes left to play but a pair of bogeys knocked her down to 1-under for the tournament to log another top-5 finish.

Others nominated: Sophie Bergland (Cal Poly); Avery French (UC Irvine); Hannah Facchini (UC Riverside)
