INDIANAPOLIS – Cal State Fullerton junior Martina Edberg was selected to the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Regionals, it was announced Monday.

Edberg was one of 384 participants selected for regional competition. The NCAA Women's Golf Regionals will be conducted May 5-7 at four regional sites to determine the championships field.

The Titans leading scorer during the 2015-16 season, Edberg will head to the Stanford Regional site hosted by Stanford University at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. Edberg is one of four individuals from the Big West Conference that will be competing at the Stanford Regional. Kassidy Teare (Long Beach State), Andrea Wong (UC Davis) and Paige Lee (UC Davis) were also selected. UC Riverside, the 2015-16 Big West Conference champions, will also participate at the Stanford Regional.

Edberg led the team with a 73.35 scoring average during the 2015-16 season, a new Cal State Fullerton single-season record. She has set the record each of the past two seasons, posting a 74.81 average as a freshman and a 74.44 mark last season.

This will be her second straight trip to the NCAA Regionals after she appeared in the South Bend Regional hosted by the University of Notre Dame last year. She finished in a tie for 56th place after posting a 14-over 230.

Along with her single-season record, Edberg set the new single-round record by a Fullerton golfer this season, posting a 7-unver 65 in the second round of the Cougar Cup hosted by Washington State on Sept. 21. She would finish the event tied for second place with a 3-under 213. It was the second of five occasions the Titans golfer shot a round in the 60s during the season. Prior to this season, the Titans record for a single round was 69, which had recorded five times by a Fullerton golfer with two of those belonging to Edberg.

This season, Edberg recorded her fourth career victory at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Classic on Sept. 26-27, posting a 5-under 211 in the 54-hole event, a new personal best and Cal State Fullerton record for lowest score in a 54-hole tournament. Overall, Edberg posted four top-5 finishes this season to go along with five top-10s and seven top-20 finishes.

Edberg was named the Big West Conference Golfer of the Month for March and earned a nod to the All-Big West Conference First Team for the third consecutive year.

Of the 384 players selected Monday, 132 will advance to the championships finals. Six teams and three individuals from each regional will advance. The national championships will be held from May 20-25 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. The University of Oregon will serve as host. The final three days of the championship will be televised live by Golf Channel.
