KAPALUA, Hawaii - Junior Martina Edberg was named to the Big West All Conference First Team and State Fullerton wrapped up the 2015-16 season Tuesday with a seventh place finish at the Big West Conference Championships hosted by the University of Hawai'i at the Kapalua Bay Course.
The Titans posted their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, carding a collective 22-over 310 in the final round, but it was not enough to move Fullerton out of the seventh-place spot they held since the conclusion of the first day. UC Riverside won its first ever Big West championship after shooting a collective 296 on Tuesday, overtaking Cal Poly by four strokes.
Edberg earned her second straight first-team all-conference nod as she paced the Titans throughout the tournament and entered the final day in a tie for sixth place, just six strokes off the lead. But Edberg posted a second straight round of 79 on Tuesday to fall out of the top-10 and finish the tournament in a tie for 16th place overall. Paige Lee of UC Davis shot a 4-over 220 to win the Big West Conference individual title. It was the second
Felicia Medalla improved on her previous round for the second straight day, posting the lowest score from a Titans golfer on Tuesday with a 2-over 74. She finished at 19-over and tied for 20th place. She posted three birdies in her final round.
Brittany Farrell shot a 6-over 78 on Tuesday, her best round of the tournament to finish with a 25-over 241, placing her in 27th overall.
Pauline Welker rounded out the Titans team scoring with a 30-over 246, posting her best round of the tournament with a 79 on Tuesday. Brittany Sok finished the 54 holes with a 36-over 252.
With the regular season over, the Titans will wai to see if any individual players are selected to the NCAA Regionals with the selection show set to take place Monday. The NCAA Regionals get underway May 5.
