BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Cal State Fullerton sits in 11th place after the conculsion of the opening round Friday at the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by Wake Forest and UNC Greensboro at the Bryan Park Champions Course.

The Titans shot a collective 19-over 307 in the first round of the tournament that features 10 teams ranked in the GolfWeek top-50 rankings. Fullerton is currently 18 strokes off the lead after No. 20 Virginia posted a 1-over 289 on Friday, eight strokes up on No. 30 South Carolina and No. 38 Notre Dame, both of which finished with a 9-over 297.

The start of the first round was delayed due to inclement weather with teams teeing off at 11 a.m. ET, two hours and 30 minutes after the intended start time of 8:30 a.m.

On the individual side, Titans junior Martina Edberg is near the front of the pack in the 84-player field as she sits in a tie for 15th place after posting a 2-over 74 in round one. Edberg is just four strokes back of opening-round leader Nico Engstroem Skaug of East Carolina, who shot a 2-under 70 on Friday. The field features 12 golfers ranked in the GolfWeek top-100 individual rankings including Edberg, who was ranked 92nd going into the weekend.

Brittney Sok shot a 5-over 77 in round one, the second best score by a Titans golfer on Friday. She currently sits in a tie for 33rd place.

Teammates Pauline Welker and Felicia Medalla were not far behind of Sok, rounding out the Titans team scoring as each shot a 6-over 78 in the opening round. They are both tied for 44th place after day one. Nadine Rivera finished the first round with an 8-over 80, putting her in a tie for 62nd place.

The Titans will return for round two Saturday morning with a shotgun start slated for 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.
