Edberg Named Big West Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton junior Martina Edberg was named the Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month, the conference announced Thursday.

It is the second time Edberg has earned the award during her Titans career and first since receiving it as a freshman in February, 2014.

At the rain-shortened Fresno State Classic, posted a 3-under 69 in the second and final round to notch a top-five finish. It was the fifth time the Fullerton junior posted a score in the 60s this season. Her showing also helped the Titans finish third overall at the tournament.

Edberg flirted with her fifth career victory at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State. She held the lead going into the final day and posted a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish the tournament with a 3-under 213.

Edberg finished second after Elon's Kelsey Badmaev posted a 4-under 68 in the last round to usurp Edberg and win by two strokes. It was Edberg's fourth top-five finish of the season. Her 14 birdies at the tournament tied for the most amongst the 84 player field.
