STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - Cal State Fullerton finished the opening round of the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate tied for fifth Sunday at the Eagle's Landing Country Club despite wet weather and an extended delay.

The Titans carded a 13-over 301 on Sunday, tied with Western Michigan for fifth place overall and eight strokes behind round one co-leaders Elon and Western Kentucky, which each finished the first round with a 5-over 293.

The teams had to endure a 75-minute delay due to lightning in the area but resumed play in the first round at 2 p.m. ET to finish the round despite steady rain falling at the golf course.

Individually, junior Martina Edberg leads the Titans after posting an even-par 72 on Sunday. Edberg is currently locked in a seven-way tie for third place and is very much in the hunt for the top spot on the leaderboard, just one stroke back of day-one co-leader Kelsey Badmaev and Emily Brooks of Elon.

Freshman Pauline Welker currently sits in the top-10, just one stroke behind Edberg with a 1-over 73 after the first round. Welker is tied for 10th place after posting three birdies on the day, all of them on the back-nine of the course.

Felicia Medalla is tied for 32nd place after posting a 5-over 77 Sunday, posting two birdies on the day. Teammate Brittney Sok rounded out the Titans team score with a 7-over 79, putting her in a tie for 46th place.

Nadine Rivera rounded out the Fullerton competitors as she finished the first round with an 11-over 83, putting her in a tie for 65th.

The Titans return to the links Monday morning for the second round with a shotgun start slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.
