LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Cal State Fullerton recorded the second-best single round in the program's history and three players shot below par including a school record-tying 69 by Tisha Alyn Abrea Tuesday to vault the Titans into third place after the second round at the New Mexico State Invitational at the N.M. State Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.

The Titans shot a collective even-par 288 in the second round, one stroke shy of the school-record 287 Fullerton recorded in the third round of this same event last year. The Titans are at a 6-over 582 after 36 holes, four strokes back of the second-place and host Aggies. Idaho holds a commanding six-stroke lead with a 5-under 571 after two days.

Abrea jumped into the top-10 of the individual standings after posting a 4-under 69 on Tuesday, tying the school record and marking the fourth time a Titans golfer has recorded the mark. Abrea now owns three of those scores after she recorded a pair of 69's at this same tournament last year in the first and third rounds. Sophomore Martina Edberg is the other golfer in Titans history to record a 69, also accomplishing the feat in New Mexico last season.

Abrea finds herself in seventh place with a 2-under 142 after 36 holes, four strokes behind co-leaders Lea Garner of BYU and Charlotte Jaengkit of Grand Canyon. Abrea continued her dominance on par-5's posting a 3-under on those holes on Tuesday. She has a tournament-best 4.13 scoring average and posted a cumulative 7-under on par-5's.

Along with Abrea, Edberg and senior Makayla Mier each had fantastic second rounds as they each posted a 2-under 70 and are tied for eighth place with a 1-under 143. Edberg had a bogey-free round on Tuesday and posted birdies on No. 4 and No. 16, both of them par-5's. Mier matched her career-best round which she also set last year in New Mexico. On Tuesday, Mier drained six birdies to give her nine for the tournament, which ranks fourth in the tournament.

Junior Dakota Brown rounded out the Titans scoring with a 7-over 79 in round two, bringing her 36-hole score to a 16-over 160. Freshman Brittany Farrell did not compete in the second round after posting a 2-over 74 in round one.

Competing as an individual, Nadine Rivera carded an 84 in the second round after posting an 80 in round one.

The Titans will return for the final round of the New Mexico State Invitational on Wednesday with a shotgun start beginning at 6:30 a.m. PT. Fullerton will look to improve on their third-place finish from a year ago at the very same tournament.
