Titans Fifteenth After Day One at Farms Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton finished the first round in 15th place at the Farms Invitational at the Farms Golf Course hosted by San Diego State in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

 

The Titans shot a collective 26-over par 314 in the opening round, one stroke behind Idaho and UC Irvine who are tied in 13th place and three strokes behind Oregon. They trail day-one leader UCLA by 29-strokes after the Bruins shot a 3-under 265 on the first day, the only team to finish the first round with a collective score under par.

 

Tisha Alyn Abrea paced the Titans on day one, shooting a 2-over 74 in the first round to put her in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings. She is two strokes away from being in the top-10 and six shots off the lead, held by Alison Lee of UCLA, Kailey Walsh of Miami and Emma Henrikson of San Diego State.

 

Freshman Martina Edberg, coming off her first career victory at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite in the team's last competition, finished the first round with a 6-over 78, placing her in a tie for 46th in the field of 92 golfers.

 

Dakota Brown was right behind her teammate, shooting a 7-over 79 on the first day to place her in a tie for 55th while Makayla Mier recorded an 11-over 83 in the first round, good enough to spot her in a tie for 77th place overall.

 

Nadine Rivera participated in her first competition of the spring portion of the Titans schedule and shot a 19-over 91 in the first round, placing her 90th overall.

 

The Titans will return for the second round on Tuesday with tee times scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
