FULLERTON, Calif. - The one-two punch of Fujika Nimmo and Una Jovanovic has been named to the All-Big West Second Team. Demonnie Lagway joined the two guards in earning All-Big West Freshman Team recognition, the conference announced Monday.
Nimmo and Jovanovic were a force to be reckoned with on the court, finishing the season tied for the second-leading conference scorer averaging 14.5 points per contest.
Nimmo led the Titans from the line, averaging 3.7-5.3 free throws per game. The senior also earned her 1,000th career point this season in a 51-42 victory over UC Riverside on Jan. 5.
Jovanovic was named Big West Player of the Week twice this season after having several record-shattering performances. Jovanovic led the Titans and was second in the conference with an average of 3.9 assists per game.
Nimmo and Jovanovic started all 29 games for the Titans, averaging more than 34 minutes a game. The duo will continue to impress as they prepare to help lead the Titans on a successful postseason journey.
Freshman Demonnie Lagway was the third Titan to earn her first Big West award.
Lagway averaged 9.2 minutes during the 29 games she played, scoring 2.8 points a contest. The freshman made a significant defensive contribution off the bench and showed her vast shooting range from the field. Lagway previously received three All-Conference First Team accolades in high school.
Fullerton opens the Big West Tournament Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. against Hawai'i in the Quarterfinal round at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.
