Nimmo Scores 17 in Titans Loss at Utah State

LOGAN, Utah – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball lost its road-opener to Utah State, 75-85, Saturday afternoon at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

The Titans (1-1) started the game on fire, getting out to an early 8-2 run to force an early timeout by Utah State (2-0) before continuing on a 20-6 run. Carolyn Gill scored six of the team's first eight points. 

Fujika Nimmo led the Titans offensively with 17 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the floor. Lily Wahinekapu added 13 points to go along with eight assists and tied for team-high six boards. 

Utah State was able to cut into the Titans lead late in the first quarter and into the second to narrow Fullerton's lead to 38-32 at halftime.

The Aggies took their first lead of the game midway through the third quarter before Gabi Vidmar hit a clutch three off a perfectly run inbound play to retake the lead for the Titans. Vidmar had 10 points off the bench with four rebounds and two assists. 

Fullerton kept battling throughout the second half but Utah State was able to pull away late in the fourth quarter, leading by as much as 12.

The Titans return home to Titan Gym Tuesday as they host San Diego State at 5:00 p.m. PT in a doubleheader with the men's basketball team.
