Women's Basketball Looks Back on Memorable 2018-19 Season at Annual Banquet

BREA, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program celebrated its 2018-19 season last night at the BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in Brea.

The team showed tremendous improvements once again from the previous year, finishing with a record of 14-16 in the second year under Head Coach Jeff Harada and the coaching staff. The .467 winning percentage is the best mark for the program since the 2009-10 season.

Redshirt-Senior Daeja Smith was named the Most Valuable Player after leading the team in points per game with 13.0 on 53.2 percent shooting from the field which led the Big West Conference. Smith also led the team in rebounds per game with 8.7, ranking second in the conference.

Redshirt-Sophomore Raina Perez was given the Titan Award which is given to the student-athlete that most represents a Titan on and off the court. Perez tied Smith for the team lead with 13.0 points per game to go along with 5.0 assists per game, a mark that was tied for most in the conference.

Sophomore Carolyn Gill was named Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, showing her defensive intensity with 1.1 steals per game. Gill was also second on the team in blocks with 0.8 per game.

Sophomore Ashlee Ane was given the Academic Excellence award for her dedication on and off the court in the classroom. It's the second year in a row, she has received the award.
