WBB Heads to CSUN on Thursday, Hosts Orange Out Against LBSU on Saturday

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton is heading to CSUN for a game against the Matadors on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and then host an 'Orange Out' against rival Long Beach State on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

CSUN currently sits in second place in the Big West with a 4-2 record (10-10 overall) and is led by reigning Big West Player of the Year, Channon Fluker. Fluker is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double with 15.1 ppg and 10.9 rpg. She also leads the nation in blocks per game at 3.6 bpg. As a team, the Matadors average just 59.7 points per game which is seventh in the conference.

Long Beach State had a hot start to conference winning their first two games, but have since lost their last three. They are led by Shanaijah Davison who averages 13.3 points per game. As a team, the 49ers average 58.1 points per game which ranks second lowest in the conference.

50TH ANNIVERSARY
This season marks the 50th year of women's basketball at Cal State Fullerton. The program made its debut in the 1969-70 season and won the CIAW National Championship that year. The program's history was celebrated January 5 against Hawaii

LAST TIME OUT
Fullerton won their first game of last week with a 59-52 victory over UCSB. Daeja Smith led the way with her 26th career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Raina Perez had 9 points and dished out 7 assists in the victory.

The game against UC Davis was the worst of the season, falling 39-75. As a team, they shot a season-low 26%. The lone highlight was Jade Vega scoring her 1,000th career point.

A GRAND ACCOMPLISHMENT
Jade Vega joined the 1,000-point club against UC Davis making her the 25th player in program history to accomplish the feat. Fellow senior Daeja Smith also reached 1,000 points earlier this season making them the first pair of teammates to reach the milestone since the 2010-11 season.

EXCLUSIVE CLUBS
Daeja Smith hit 1,000 career points to go along with her 750-career rebounds. That makes her just the 4th player in program history to reach both of those marks. She currently sits at 1,049 points and 762 rebounds.

Jade Vega hit 1,000 career points and has dished out over 350 assists in her Titan career. She is just the 6th player in program history to reach both of those milestones in a career. The senior currently sits at 1,004 points and 357 assists.

BACKCOURT MAGIC
Raina Perez and Jade Vega have a very nice passing game. With 90 assists each, they rank 69th in all of NCAA. They also rank 28th and 46th respectively in assists per game.

DAEJA-VU
Picking up where she left off last year, Daeja Smith has shown why she's on the Lisa Leslie Award watch list. Through 18 games, she has seven double-doubles, averaging 13.4 ppg and 9.2 rpg. Her best game came against CBU when she set a career-high 26 points to go along with 16 rebounds.

GAME CHANGER
Raina Perez was forced to redshirt last season, but has shown everyone what she's capable of already this year. After missing the first game, she is averaging13.3 points per game and 5.3 assists in 35.8 minutes per game. She has also scored in double-figures in all but four games this year.

RED HOT KIWI
Freshman Amiee Book has been absolutely on fire from the field this season. In twelve games, she is shooting 51.9% (68-131) from the field and 47.5% (29-61) from three. She also ranks 15th in the Big West with 10.6 ppg and has scored in double-figures in eleven of her seventeen games this season.

SHARING IS CARING
This year's Fullerton team plays very unselfishly passing up good shots for great shots. Because of that, they have 276 assists on the year averaging 15.3 per game. They currently rank 68th in all of NCAA in assists per game.

ON FIRE FROM THE FIELD
The Titans have shot lights out from the field so far this year, ranking second in the conference shooting 42.8% from the field leading to 65.2 points per game which is the third highest scoring team in the Big West. The 42.8% mark ranks 72nd in the nation.

KEEP THEM OFF THE LINE
Fullerton does not allow their opponents many chances from the charity strike. Opponents are only averaging 9.1 made free throws per game and the Titans only average 13.9 fouls per game, which ranks 17th fewest in the country. Overall, they have only committed 251 fouls on the year which is fewest in the Big West and the 10th fewest in the NCAA.
