Titans Head to Nor-Cal to Open the Season

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball begins the 2017-18 season on the road Saturday against Santa Clara at 6 p.m. PT. The team will then travel to Stockton, Calif. for a game against the Tigers of Pacific on Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.

QUICK HITS
•           Cal State Fullerton defeated Concordia 83-58 in the team's only exhibition match this offseason.
•           The Titans didn't win a game last season on the road, going 0-13 outside of Titan Gym.
•           The Titans have missed out on the Big West Conference Tournament the last two seasons.
•           Head Coach Jeff Harada enters his first season with the Titans after coaching at Central Washington University.

OPPONENT AND HISTORY 
Santa Clara
6 p.m. | Saturday, Nov. 11 | Leavey Center
The Titans and Broncos will face each other for just the ninth time in program history. Overall, Fullerton is 5-3 against Santa Clara and 2-2 on the road against the Broncos. CSF won the last meeting back in 2008 at Titan Gym which was also a season opener.

Pacific
7 p.m. | Monday, Nov. 13 | Alex G. Spanos Center
Fullerton and Pacific will face off for the 62nd time in program history. The Titans sport a 23-38 record all-time against the Tigers and are 6-22 on the road against them. The Tigers have won the last five meetings between the two teams, the last matchup being in the 2013 Big West Tournament.

2016 RECAP
The Titans finished last season 4-25 (1-15 Big West) which resulted in a ninth-place finish in the Big West Conference. Daeja Smith was the star of the team last season, leading the team in points per game, rebounds, field goal percentage, free throws-free throw attempts, and blocks. The Titans missed out on the Big West Tournament for the second consecutive year.

WELCOME BACK
Titans welcome back five members from last year's squad, including three starters from last season. Only one of those returners, China Henderson, is a senior. Henderson is joined by returning starters Jade Vega and Daeja Smith as well as Lauren Nubla and Mia Gallo.

THE START OF A NEW ERA
Fullerton made some big changes this offseason and will feature a brand-new coaching staff, led by head coach Jeff Harada. He is joined by assistants Casandra Renno, Karlie Burris, Charel Allen, and director of operations Nicholas Milan.

WELCOME TO THE TITAN FAMILY
Along with a new coaching staff, the Titans will have eight new faces in uniform this season. The newcomers consist of four transfer students and four incoming freshman.

SEASON OPENERS
The Titans have struggled in season openers in recent years, collecting only one win in the last five seasons. Overall Fullerton is 27-21 in season openers in program history.
