FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team knocked down 11 three-pointers in Monday night's home opener from Titan Gym, but Idaho nailed 15 buckets from long distance and held on for an 88-86 victory.

Fullerton (0-2) was led by Iman Lathan's 27 points on 13-of-23 shooting as the junior guard added seven rebounds and four assists after triumphantly returning to the floor from an early first quarter injury.

Sophomore guard Jade Vega hit four three-pointers en route to a 16-point effort, while junior guard Jordan Jackson poured in 14 points, draining four three-pointers and leading the Titans with six assists.

"I felt like our team was more comfortable tonight," head coach Daron Park said in reference to Friday's season-opening loss.

Idaho (2-0), the defending Big Sky Conference champion, was led by Geraldine Mccorkell's 30-point performance on a 13-of-25 shooting effort. Karlee Wilson delivered a game-high 10 assists, while Taylor Pierce added 18 points on five three-pointers and five dishes. Agueda Trujilla scored 17 points off the bench for the Vandals.

Idaho held slight edges in points in the paint (28-24), points off turnovers (11-9), second-chance points (20-15), fast break points (10-2) and bench points (26-17).

With 1:43 to play, Dhanyel Johnson's offensive rebound and put back gave the Titans an 82-81 lead – Fullerton's first advantage since the second quarter - but Mccorkell hit a dagger less than 10 seconds later with a long-range bucket.

Earlier, the Titans had trailed 79-72, until three-pointers from Vega and Keimeshia Walker helped Fullerton close 81-80.

Cal State Fullerton held a 42-37 advantage on the boards and shot 47.1 percent (33-of-70) from the floor compared to Idaho's 47.9 percent (34-of-71).

Idaho held a 43-38 edge at halftime after ending the second quarter on an 18-4 run.

The Titans led by as many as nine in the second quarter, 34-25, with 5:53 to play, but the Vandals knocked down seven buckets in the final six minutes of the first half, including four three-pointers.

Lathan led Cal State Fullerton with 14 points in first 20 minutes on 7-of-12 shooting, while Mccorkell (12) and Trujillo (10) led Idaho, respectively.

A long distance basket from Vega capped a 12-5 run for the Titans to start the second quarter as Fullerton boasted a 30-23 lead with 6:50 to play in the half.

Walker led the Titans with five points in the first quarter as Cal State Fullerton and Idaho were even at 18-18 after the game's first 10 minutes.

Cal State Fullerton hits the road for a two-game stretch at Wyoming on Sunday followed by a contest at Denver on Tuesday, Nov. 22.
