Hayes Joins Fullerton Coaching Staff
FULLERTON, Calif. – Courtney Hayes, a 2015 graduate of Grand Canyon University, will start her coaching career as an assistant at Cal State Fullerton as part of the women's basketball staff for fourth-year head coach Daron Park.

Hayes recently concluded her collegiate career at GCU, earning all-Western Athletic Conference Second Team honors after starting 30 games for the Lopes during the 2015-16 season. She was a two-time WAC All-Defensive Team selection in 2015 and 2016, and as a redshirt senior set a GCU single-season record with 195 assists while also leading the league.

"Courtney is a player that I recruited and signed when I was at Louisiana Tech," Park said. "I never was able to coach her, but I knew at some point I would hire her as an assistant coach when her playing days were done.  Courtney is a dedicated, loyal, hard-working person who will give this program everything she has.  I am thrilled to be able to finally work with her, and I know she will be an amazing addition to our women's basketball program."

Hayes will help coordinate all recruiting efforts, assist in scouting and skill development with guards, community relations, and serve as the team liaison with the athletic training and strength and conditioning staffs.

A leader on and off the court for two seasons (2015-16), Hayes is currently seeking an MBA with an emphasis in Sports Business from GCU. The Las Vegas native recorded 313 points, 153 rebounds and a team-high 84 steals, ranking first in the conference in 2016.

She averaged 10.4 points per game while shooting 42.3 percent (127-of-300) from the floor. She averaged 5.1 rebounds per game and finished the season with a team-high 1,025 minutes, averaging 34.2 minutes per game to rank third in the WAC.
