Titans Women’s Basketball Holds First Practice of the Season

Oct. 7, 2014

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team held its first organized practice of the 2014-2015 season Tuesday afternoon at Titan Gym.

The practice kicks off the second year at the helm for head coach Daron Park.  Today also marked the first official practice for first-year assistant coach Abi Olajuwan and new director of basketball operations Nikki Turner.

"I think we all felt like kids on Christmas day," said Park.  "Personally it was a joy to see your first recruiting class on the floor with the returners. I loved our energy, I loved our effort, I loved our enthusiasm, and we're excited for tomorrow."

Along with the new recruiting class, the Titans are returning six student-athletes from a year ago, including all-freshman guard Samantha Logan.  Logan averaged 7.9 points per game, and led the Titans with 52 three-pointers last year.  Other key returners include guard Chante Miles, who led the team in assists (114) and steals (41) while averaging 13.9 points per game. Natalie Williams, Kathleen Iwuoha, Tailer Butler and Hailey King are more familiar names that will continue to contribute heavily for the Titans this season.

The 2014-2015 women's basketball team will be looking to improve on the 12 wins from a year ago, the most since the 2009-2010 season, as they tip-off Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 p.m., for an exhibition game against Cal Baptist University at Titan Gym.
