Fullerton leads the all-time series vs. Cal State Northridge, 12-10-1, but has last four in a row and 8 of the past 10

ABOUT THE ANTEATERS:

UC Irvine trails UC Santa Barbara by only one point in the Big West Conference standings with three matches to go for each team. After an 8-1-2 start, the Anteaters are only 2-2-1 in their last five matches. But they have posted consecutive shutouts in beating UC Riverside, 2-0, and tying at Cal Poly SLO, 0-0. Goalkeeper Kenny Schoeni has a 1.00 goals against average to go with 47 saves and a 9-3-3 record. Matt Murphy leads UCI and the Big West in scoring with 9 goals and 23 points. Teammates Anthony Hamilton (7 goals, 18 points) and Brad Evans (6 goals, 15 points) also are in the top five in the BWC in both categories.

ABOUT THE MATADORS:

Winless in their last three matches, the Matadors are in a must-win mode this week with matches at UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday and at home vs. Fullerton. A scoreless tie with UC Riverside and a 1-0 home loss to Cal Poly dealt CSUN's Big West title hopes a severe blow and gave the Matadors back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2001. Sunghyun Kim (5 goals, 12 points) and Fergie Agwu (3 goals, 10 points) are the top scorers. Goalkeeper Kevin Guppy has a 1.00 goals against average and has played all but 3:48 of the season in the Cal State Northridge net.

ABOUT THE TITANS:

Fullerton plays its next three matches on the road, where it has a similar record (3-5-1) to its Titan Stadium (2-4-0) mark.

Eugene Brooks is scoreless in his last three matches and has fallen into second place in the Big West Conference in both goals scored (8 to 9 by Matt Murphy of UCI) and points (18 to 23 by Murphy).

With five victories, the Titans have surpassed last year's total (4-14-1) and have matched the Big West Conference win total (1-9-0). With two road victories (at San Jose State and at UNLV), the Titans have two more road wins than all of last season. They also own a neutral site win (over Oral Roberts at Memphis).

Defender Amir Shafii is tied for second (with Michael Farfan) on the team with 4 goals. The last two have come on free kicks and one other came off a corner kick.

With 22 goals, the Titans have surpassed last year's total of 21, which included an opponent own goal. But they have only one goal in the last three matches resulting in a season-high 3-match losing streak.
