Short-Handed Titans Travel to Northridge

Oct. 17, 2008

Northridge, Calif. - Some familiar faces will be missing from the Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team when it visits Cal State Northridge Saturday afternoon for a Big West Conference match.

The Titans, coming off a tie at first-place UC Davis, are 3-10-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Big West. Northridge is unbeaten in Big West play at 1-0-2 and 5-4-3 overall.

Fullerton Coach Bob Ammann will be relegated to the grandstand after receiving a red card Wednesday afternoon at UC Davis. Junior defender Matt Sanders received his fifth yellow card of the season in the same match so he must sit out Saturday. And freshman Mario Alvarez is serving the second game of a 2-game suspension for his flagrant foul in the UC Davis match.

The Titans ended a 4-match scoreless skein with two goals -- by Shay Spitz and Joshua Meyer -- in the 2-2 tie at Davis. The Titans have been shutout in their last four trips to Northridge since a 2-1 overtime win in 2003.
