Long-Awaited Home Match for Men's Soccer

Long-Awaited Home Match for Men's Soccer

Oct. 3, 2008

Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton plays its first home men's soccer match since Sept. 7 when the Titans host Houston Baptist Saturday night at 7 p.m. in their final non-conference match of the season.

It's the start of the second half of the season but it is only the third home game for the Titans, who are 3-7 overall, 0-1 in the Big West Conference, and 0-2 at home. Houston Baptist, an independent which is transitioning to NCAA Div. I status, is 3-3 after a 1-0 loss Thursday night at UC Riverside.

It should be a low-scoring match. The Titans have managed only nine goals in their 10 matches while Houston Baptist has scored only eight and allowed only seven in the Huskies' six matches to date. George Sangira leads HBU in scoring with 3 goals and 2 assists while Celso Alvarez tops the Titans' scoring column with 8 points on 4 goals despite missing the first two matches of the season.

The Titans must play without junior defender Matt Sanders, who picked up a red card at Cal Poly on Wednesday night.
