Aug. 20, 2009

Irvine, Calif. - UC Santa Barbara has been voted the pre-season favorite to win the Big West Conference men's soccer championship according to a poll of the seven head coaches.

Cal State Fullerton was projected for sixth place, trailing, in order, the Gauchos, UC Irvine, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge and UC Davis but ahead of UC Riverside. UCSB got four first-place votes to a pair for UCI and one for CSUN.

The Titans don't play a Big West match until Sept. 30 when they host Cal Poly. Their first appearance of 2009 is Aug. 29 vs. an alumni team at 7 p.m. in Titan Stadium.
