2008 Men's Soccer Schedule Released

Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton will play a truly national non-conference men's soccer schedule in preparation for its 2008 Big West Conference competition.

The Titans' schedule features 10 non-conference foes representing 7 states and the District of Columbia as well as a new unbalanced conference slate.

Fullerton will face Alabama A&M, Georgetown, UNLV, Cal State Bakersfield, Washington and Portland in three pre-season tournaments including one at Titan Stadium matching the Runnin' Rebels, the Roadrunners and Cal State Northridge on Sept. 5 and 7. The Titans also will have a Colorado trip to face Air Force and Denver, a one-match trip to Illinois to play Bradley and a home contest in Titan Stadium against Houston Baptist.

Gone is the complete round-robin Big West schedule. Fullerton will face UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine only once while continuing the traditional home-and-home matches vs. Cal Poly, UC Davis, UC Riverside Cal State Northridge. The single-match opponents will rotate from year to year.

Also new in 2008 is a post-season tournament. The top four teams in the regular season standings will qualify with No. 1 playing No. 4 and No. 2 and No. 3 meeting on Nov. 12 at the higher seed's venue. The winners will meet on the field of the highest remaining seed on Nov. 15 with that winner receiving the Big West's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
