German Standout Signs with Titan Soccer

May 21, 2008

Fullerton, Calif. - German men's soccer standout Deniz Sevinc has turned down an offer to play professionally and will enroll at Cal State Fullerton in August to play as a freshman in 2008 for Head Coach Bob Ammann.

Sevinc is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward playing for VFB Stuttgart. He combines strength and power with a sprinter's speed and is equally adept shooting right or left-footed. He is tactically smart, physically tough and mentally motivated. The resident of the village of Walddorfhaslach will be 21 years old on Aug. 9.

"Deniz fills a need and is a player that we see contributing immediately," said Ammann. "His ability to put the ball in the back of the net will be warmly welcomed.

"We have had a long history of players joining the professional ranks after playing at Cal State Fullerton, but I can't recall ever having a player offered a professional contract prior to his Titan career.

"We are very excited that Deniz has decided to postpone his professional career to get an education while helping us strive to achieve our team's goals."
