Men's Soccer Signs 4

Feb. 8, 2011

Fullerton, Calif. - Four highly regarded high school seniors have been signed national letters of intent to continue their men's soccer careers at Cal State Fullerton with Head Coach Bob Ammann.

The quartet - Ian Ramos from Lehigh High School in Highland, Utah; Dyllan Stevens from Troy High School in Fullerton; Mark Vasquez from Whittier Christian High School; and Adam Zepeda of John F. Kennedy High School in Norco -- will join a very talented group of returning players who look to improve on their Big West Conference Tournament runnerup finish of last season.

"We are very excited about this class -- they have great character and are very talented student-athletes," said Ammann. "They have the ability to make an immediate impact on the program and we are excited about the possibilities they bring to the team.

"We fully expect to finalize our class in the coming weeks with a couple of high quality transfers."

Ramos is a 6-foot-2 midfielder/forward who has helped lead his club team, Inter FC, to multiple state championships under the guidance of Coach Matt Broadhead. Ramos has also been a part of the Region IV team, where he scored 3 goals in 3 games in the inter-regional tournament. He has also been a part of Real Salt Lake's youth academy.

"Ian is a very exciting player -- always looking to attack in 1 vs. 1 situations," said Ammann. "His technique, size and soccer instincts should help him to settle in quickly."

Stevens, is a 6-foot-1 forward from Whittier who has been a part of the Regional team and L.A. Galaxy's youth academy. The 3-year letter winner at Troy chose not to play with the Warriors his junior year so that he could compete with L.A. Galaxy's U-16 team, where he led the team in scoring.

"Dyllan is a very athletic striker who can strike a great ball," said Ammann. "His ability to score goals in a variety of different ways should help him be very successful at this level."

Vasquez is a 5-foot-8 midfielder/defender from Fullerton who is a 3-year letterman. He also chose not to play his junior year to compete with L.A. Galaxy's U-18 academy team. In March he traveled to England with the Galaxy to compete against the likes of Everton F.C., Manchester City, and West Ham. He also helped his former club, Legends F.C., to a Coast Soccer League Championship, playing for former Titan coach Jerry Laterza.

"Mark is a very solid left sided player who should help with our depth on the left side," said Ammann.

Zepeda is a 6-foot-2 goalkeeper from Corona who has had a tremendous youth career. He has traveled with numerous U.S. Youth National Teams and the 2010 Parade All-American has been a member of Alta Loma Arsenal's youth academy led by PJ Brown and, more recently, the Galaxy's youth academy. He is ranked by Top Drawer Soccer as the third best player in the region and one of top fve goalkeepers nationally. He trained with Ex-Titan assistant and current U.S Men's National Team Goalkeeper Coach Zak Abdel.

"Adam is a tremendous talent and one of the best goalkeepers in the country," said Ammann. "He is the most experienced keeper to ever sign with our program. We are excited and look forward to his future contributions."
