Box Score

Goleta, Calif. - Joe Eubanks and Sam Garza scored 42 seconds apart late in the first half Wednesday night and UC Santa Barbara went on to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 3-0, in Big West Conference men's soccer action.

The Gauchos (5-3-2, 2-1-0) again dominated the Titans (2-6-2, 1-2-0) but this time were able to avenge a 1-0 overtime loss a week ago in Fullerton.

Eubanks scored at 36:59 and Garca came in on a fast break at 37:41 for the early lead. James Kiffe completed the scoring in the 64th minute before a crowd of 2,889.

Fullerton goalkeeper Trevor Whiddon, who ranks in the national Top 20 in saves, made a Big West seasonal high 12 stops as the Gauchos fired away for 31 shots to only 6 for the Titans. Freshman Eric Reyes, playing because regular goalkeeper Sam Hayden is serving a 3-game suspension for bumping the referee after the match in Fullerton, got the shutout with only 2 saves.

Nine of Whiddon's saves came in the first half and several were again of the spectacular variety.

Fullerton plays the second of three consecutive road matches Saturday night at UC Riverside.
