IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer was represented by three players on the yearly all-conference teams, The Big West announced Tuesday afternoon.
Sebastian Cruz was named The Big West Midfielder of the Year and earned first team all-conference honors after finishing second in The Big West with 22 points on eight goals and six assists which ranked 18th in the country. His eight goals ranked second in the conference while his six assists ranked tied for fourth.
Cruz is the first Titan to win a conference player of the year award since Ross McPhie was named Co-Midfielder of the Year in 2017 and becomes the first Titan to ever win a player of the year award outright. The junior has earned all-conference honors in each of his three seasons at Cal State Fullerton.
First-year transfer Reziq Banihani was named to The Big West Second Team All-Conference after a strong first season as a Titan. Banihani finished the year with five goals and six assists for 16 points which ranked fourth in the conference. His five goals and six assists each ranked tied for fourth in the conference.
Another first-year transfer, Giovanni Calderon, garnered Big West Honorable Mention after anchoring the Titans defense all season. Calderon played in 18 of 19 games during the 2022 season while recording one goal and one assist.
The Titans finished the season with an 8-5-5 overall record and a 3-3-3 record in Big West play to just miss the Big West Tournament due to a tiebreaker with Sacramento State.
