Men's Soccer Falls 3-1 at Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer lost to Sacramento State Saturday afternoon on the road by a final score of 3-1. Fullerton is now 3-10-3 with a 1-6-1 Big West record.

The Titans fell behind early as Sacramento State scored in the seventh minute on a goal by Michael Gonzalez. Jaime Robles and Titus Washington assisted on the goal for the Hornets.

Fullerton immediately turned on the pressure to get back in the match and finally broke through in the 31st minute on an impressive display of talent by Samuel Owusu for his fifth goal of the season. Charly Anguiano assisted on the goal for his second of the year. 

Sacramento State broke the tie in the 72nd minute on an unassisted goal by Alejandro Alcantara. The Hornets extended their lead in the 90th minute of play as Eloge Iradukunda scored a penalty kick.

The Titans equaled Sacramento State in shots, both teams recording 14 in the match. The Hornets had seven shots on goal compared to the Titans four. Fullerton stayed aggressive in the Hornets final third to earn eight corner kicks while Sacramento State was able to earn nine.

Cal State Fullerton wraps up the season next Saturday against UC Irvine at Titan Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT. Head Coach George Kuntz and the athletic department will honor its seniors prior to the match.
