FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer defeated Cal Baptist 1-0 Wednesday night at Titan Stadium to improve to 8-0 on the season, the best start in the history of the program.

Fullerton surpassed the previous record of 7-0 which was set by the 1999 team under legendary head coach Al Mistri.
Setting the best start to the season the program as ever seen was not the only history made tonight, Paul-Andre Guerin record his 19th career clean sheet to tie Mike Ammann for most shutouts in the history of the program.

Guerin once again had an outstanding game in net for the Titans, recording four saves on the evening, including two world class saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless. The senior has four shutouts in eight games this season with help from the stifling back line of Sam Molz, Edward Salazar, Clayton Torr and Jose Delgado. Fullerton has allowed just five goals in eight games this season.
The Titans dominated throughout the game, out-shooting Cal Baptist 21-12 and 12-6 in just the first half. However, Fullerton wasn't able to break through until the second half when Jessy Sotelo netted the game-winning goal in the 55th minute on assists from Oscar Flores and Christian Pinzon.

The goal was Sotelo's second of the year while Pinzon recorded his team-high sixth assist of the season and Flores recorded his third. Pinzon leads the team with 16 points with Flores right behind him at 13 points.
The Titans look to carry the momentum into Sunday's contest against No. 24 Loyola Marymount. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
