Titans Look to Finish Season Strong Against CSUN, UCI

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans look to finish the regular season strong as they head north to the Valley in a rematch with CSUN Wednesday at 7 p.m. before hosting UCI on Senior Night Saturday at Titan Stadium.

IN THE STANDINGS
Fullerton is in second place in the Big West Conference South Division with a record of 3-3-2 in conference play. The Titans have 11 points, just three points behind CSUN who has 14 points in first place. UCI is in third place with eight points and UC Riverside is in fourth with seven points

OPPONENT AND HISTORY

CSUN
7 p.m. | Wednesday, Oct. 25 | Performance Soccer Field

Fullerton will head to the valley for a rematch of the Big West Conference Championship game in 2016. The Titans are 16-21-6 against the Matadors all-time and are 8-12-2 all-time in Northridge. The last meeting between the two teams ended in a 0-0 draw after playing 110 minutes of action. Both goalkeepers were nothing short of spectacular in the meeting, with Titans' keeper Paul-Andre Guerin recording five saves and Regitnig Henrik recording six.

Emmanuel Usen Jr. leads the Matadors offense with eight goals on the season, ranking him second in the Big West Conference. Usen Jr. has 19 total points on the year while adding three assists two his eight goals. Daniel Trejo is second on the team with seven goals on the season, ranking him tied for third in the conference. The next highest goal-scorer has two goals this season.

Fullerton is just three points behind CSUN in the standings and with the win would be tied for first place. The Titans would then have the top overall spot with the win if the two teams were to finish the season tied for first because of the head-to-head matchup.

UC Irvine
7 p.m. | Saturday, Oct. 28 | Titan Stadium

The Titans will welcome UC Irvine to Titan Stadium for the final game of the regular season. Fullerton is 23-24-9 all-time against the Anteaters and are 13-10-5 all-time at Titan Stadium when facing UCI. The last time the two teams met Fullerton took a commanding 3-1 victory of the Anteaters. Samuel Goni notched five points in the victory with two goals and one assist, having a hand in all three goals scored.

UC Irvine is led by Giovanni Godoy on the offensive end with 11 goals this season. Godoy's 11 goals leads the Big West Conference. Godoy has added two assists to his goal total to give him 24 points on the season which is also ranked first in the conference. Ivan Canales is second on the team with seven goals which has him tied for third place in the conference.

The Titans are three points ahead of the Anteaters in the standings. Fullerton will need to win the matchup Saturday to stay as the second seed heading into the playoffs. UCI will play UC Riverside Wednesday before play the Titans on Saturday.

Goni's Offense Gets Going
Forward Samuel Goni earned his first Big West Conference Player of the Week award this week coming off of a stellar two games against UCI and UCR. Goni scored five points in the Titans 3-1 win over the Anteaters, recording two goals and one assist. Against UCR, Goni's late game heroics earned Fullerton a draw against the Highlanders. Goni scored a goal to draw even with UCR with 1:33 minutes remaining in the game. Goni now has seven goals on the season which ranks him tied for third place in the conference. In total, Goni recorded three goals and one assist last week, giving him seven points in two games.
