FULLERTON, Calif. – Fullerton (5-3-1) heads into Big West Conference play going 3-0-1 over the last four games as they hit the road to take on UC Santa Barbara Thursday night at 7 p.m. and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Saturday at 7 p.m. PT.

IN THE STANDINGS
The Titans are tied for first place in the Big West South Division with UC Irvine with a 5-3-1 overall record. CSUN is right behind them at 5-4 and UC Riverside sits in fourth at 0-7. Fullerton and UCI are boasting the best records in all of the Big West.

OPPONENT AND HISTORY

UC Santa Barbara
7 p.m. | Friday, Sept. 28 | Harder Stadium

Fullerton and Santa Barbara will meet for the 62nd time in the history of the two programs. The Titans are 25-33-3 all-time against UCSB and are 9-21 all-time when playing at Harder Stadium. The last time the two teams matched up was last year at Titan Stadium as Fullerton closed out the 2-1 win.

The Gauchos head into the matchup with Fullerton with a 2-4-2 record, placing them last in the Big West North Division. UCSB is however, sporting a three-game winning streak heading into the contest including a 1-0 win over Portland and a 2-1 victory over Club América U-20 team in an exhibition match.

Santa Barbara has only scored five goals on the season, with Ignacio Tellechea leading the team with three goals and freshman Rodney Michael in second with two goals. The Gauchos have scored all five of their goals over the past four games.

Fullerton and Santa Barbara have faced off against two familiar opponents this season in San Diego and Portland. The Titans finished in a 1-1 draw with San Diego while UCSB dropped the match 1-0. Fullerton suffered its worst loss of the season to Portland 5-0, Santa Barbara on the other hand is coming off of a 1-0 victory Saturday night against Portland.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Cal Poly and Fullerton will meet for the 34th time in the history of the two programs. The Titans are 19-13-1 all-time against the Mustangs and are 5-9-1 when facing them on the road. The last time the two teams met Fullerton pulled off the 2-1 victory at Titan Stadium.

The Mustangs head into the matchup with a 4-4 overall record to place them tied for first in the north division with Sacramento State. Cal Poly has played some tough competition in the nonconference schedule, facing off with No. 7 Indiana where the Mustangs lost 2-0, No. 10 Notre Dame who Cal Poly took into double-overtime but eventually lost 2-1, and No. 6 Maryland who defeated them 1-0. The Mustangs are coming off of a 3-1 win over Portland Monday night.

Cal Poly is led on the offensive side by senior Adam Olsen and junior Sean Goode who are tied with two goals each. Goode leads the team with five points on two goals and an assist. Four other Mustangs are tied with one goal on the season. 

McPhie Continues Dominance
Junior Ross McPhie netted his fourth goal of the season in the Titans 1-0 victory of UNLV to surpass his total goals scored from the entire 2016 season. McPhie leads the team with nine points, adding one assist to his four goals. With the goal the junior midfielder is now tied for second in the Big West Conference in goals (4) and points (9).

Shots!
Over the last four games, where the Titans are 3-0-1, they have a outshot their opponents in all three wins. Only San Diego shot more than the Titans in the 1-1 tie. Fullerton ranks second in the Big West with 124 shots on the season with only UC Irvine getting off more shots with 126. Forward Bass Sarr leads the Titans and ranks second in the conference with 19 shots and McPhie is fifth in the conference with 18.

Cortez Holds Down the Net
Alfredo Cortez still has not suffered a loss since starting in goal going 3-0-1 in his four games played. Cortez has been impressive in goal for the Titans, leading the Big West in goals allowed (2), goals against average (0.47) and save percentage (.882).
