FULLERTON, Calif – Highly touted incoming freshman Michael Bogart and Michael Oakson have helped lead the West Coast FC Wyss U-18 Team to a berth in the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas.
Oakson scored a key goal in the team's regional semifinal matchup against Santa Clara Sporting in the 59th minute to tie the match at 1-1 before it eventually went on to claim the 3-1 victory and advance to the Farwest Regional Final.
West Coast FC then went on to crush Washington's WPFC 4-0 in the U-18 Boys Final 4-0 to send them to the National Championships. West Coast FC is one of five Southern California teams that will represent Cal South in Frisco, Texas.
Oakson will the Cal State Fullerton squad in the fall after prepping at Mission Viejo High School and has all the physical tools to make an immediate impact for the Titans as a 6-foot-4 midfielder who can control the center of the field.
Bogart on the other hand comes in as a defensive specialist from Santa Margarita Catholic High School where he helped lead the Eagles to a first place finish in the Trinity League while the defense allowed only five goals in all of league play.
