Former Titan Signs With New MLS Club

FULLERTON, Calif. – Kevin Venegas, former Cal State Fullerton midfielder, was signed by Major League Soccer's Minnesota United, the club announced on Thursday.

The former Titan becomes the 19th Fullerton player in program history to sign with an MLS club and is one of the first players to sign with Minnesota United.

Venegas joins the new MLS team for its inaugural season in the league after showing star ability in the midfield and as a defender with the club the previous five seasons. The Lakewood native also showed his playmaking skills by setting a new club record 17 assists and netting seven goals.

In his time with Fullerton (2008-10), Venegas became an offensive force in the midfield during his senior season as he scored seven goals, including a conference leading four game-winning goals. The strong play offensively earned him All-Big West First Team honors.

The Titan standout was drafted 37th overall by Chivas USA in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft following his time at Fullerton, but didn't receive a contract with the club.
