Titans Welcome Boys & Girls Club To Titan Stadium

FULLERTON, Calif. – Prior to Wednesday's game against CSUN, the Cal State Fullerton men's soccer program held a small training session with the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana on Tuesday afternoon at Titan Stadium.

"It was a pleasure to work with the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana," assistant coach Carlos Aguilar said. "Our team can relate to these young individuals as they come from very similar backgrounds. We aspire to be role models within the community and teach the youth to make the correct choices on and off the field."

As members of the Boys & Girls Club Santa Ana piled out of the vans and stepped foot on the grass at Titan Stadium, they were greeted by Titans Ronaldo Pineda, Chris Castillo and Armando Rivera.

After introductions and a few warm-up drills, the Titans held a two-touch pass drill followed by a short match on the field.

Vanessa Rigsby, Director of Health & Wellness at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana, and Becca Dobbs, Marketing & Promotions Coordinator at Cal State Fullerton Athletics, talked about what it means to the kids to have an opportunity to play and train with college athletes.

"At the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana, we've promoted this huge college bound program so to be able to connect athletics with college is huge for the kids, especially with soccer," Rigsby said.

"It is great to connect the youth right in our backyard with various athletes and teams within our Titan family," Dobbs said. "Last year we started the program with Titan baseball and I am thrilled we are able to add another sport and experience this year."

Running drills and practicing on the same field as the Titans was just the beginning as those that attended Tuesday were special guests at the game on Wednesday between the Titans and CSUN at Titan Stadium.

"The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Ana provided an atmosphere throughout our entire game," Aguilar said. "It very enjoying to interact with them prior to the game and to see how much they enjoyed the game was priceless."
