Titans Travel to UC Irvine on Saturday

Complete Notes and Stats

Cal State Fullerton (6-8-1, 3-3-1) heads to UC Irvine (9-4-3, 4-2-1) for a Saturday matchup down the stretch where the Titans hold their conference tournament fate on their own two feet.

The final regular-season matches are with the Anteaters, CS Northridge and then at UC Riverside, each divisional opponents. Fullerton is currently three points back of the co-leaders, UCI and CSUN (each with 13 points in Big West South Division action). The Titans must finish in the top three to go to the Big West Tournament and must finish at least as high as No. 2 to host first-round play.

Series Notes: It is a long and storied rivalry between these Orange County squads, with the teams playing to a draw through two overtimes a few weeks ago at Titan Stadium. While UC Irvine holds the edge in meetings over the past decade and has the series advantage, 19-21-7, total goals scored between teams finds Fullerton having netted 82 to the Anteater's 81 which speaks to how close the programs are since 1984 when the teams first met.

The Anteaters, Part Deux

UC Irvine enters this weekend with a share of the South Division lead (4-2-1, 13 points) and a 9-4-3 overall record.

The Anteaters picked up both individual Big West players of the week as Mitchell Alvarez notched both game-winning goals for the team en route to their two in-division wins over UC Riverside and No. 5 Cal State Northridge. Marco Franco earned defensive player of the week honors as he led a stifling back line with a pair of shut out performances.

The Anteaters four losses were to: Xavier, Santa Clara, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara.
