Scott Rubzin and Dakota Duerr both shot a 3-under par 69 Tuesday to lead Cal State Fullerton to its best round of the tournament and a third-place showing at the Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship at the PGA West Mountain Course.

With Ryan Tetrault coming in at 70 and Mark Anguiano at 71, the Titans' team score Tuesday was 279, best in the 9-team field, for a tourney total of 861 strokes. UC Davis finished first at 858 followed by Long Beach State at 859. Pacific finished fourth at 863 ahead of UC Santa Barbara (867), UC Irvine (868), Cal Poly (894), Cal State Northridge (895) and UC Riverside (909).

Anguiano (69-68-71) finished second in the individual competition at 8-under-par 208 behind only Alex Edfort of Pacific at 203 (68-68-67).

Fullerton finished ninth in its renewal season in 2010 and eighth last year.
