IRVINE, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Jack Ireland won his first career Big West Men's Golfer of the Month award as he recorded two top-5 finishes at March tournaments.

He shot par or better in five of six rounds to help the Titans finish second at the Sacramento State Invitational and third at the Jackrabbit Invitational.

Ireland posted a 54-hole total of even par 216 on the par-72, 7,010-yard Valley Hi Country Club course to begin the month.  He was consistent throughout, carding scores of 71, 72 and 73 to finish fourth among 69 golfers.  Ireland aided the Titans in climbing from third to second place on the final day of the Sacramento State Invitational.

At the Las Vegas-based Jackrabbit Invitational, Ireland collected three straight rounds in the 60's as he carded a 12-under 204, tying for second overall and finishing just one shot behind medalist Justin Kim (203, -13) of UNLV.

Ireland again played a consistent tournament with scores of 68, 67 and 69 on the par-72, 6,843-yard course at the Siena Golf Club.  Ireland led the Titans to a third-place showing among the 12-team field.

Ireland's award is part of a Titan sweep for the month of March as Martina Edberg won the Big West Women's Golfer of the Month honor.
